About this course

This module provides definitions related to protected areas and explains the 6 categories of protected areas according to IUCN standards (International Union for Conservation of Nature). It then describes key principles of protected area management, including the reasons why planning in a protected area is critically important. Finally, it explains typical tasks: protected area policies, organizational leadership, human resources management, financial management, and communication.
